Overlooking the Newfound Lake in Alexandria, New Hampshire, this backyard retreat serves as the perfect spot for restful afternoons and fire-lit evenings.
Natures Elite Landscaping (natureselitenh.com) constructed the sitting area by first clearing the constrained space. They used a large crane to remove a hemlock tree and an excavator to create a retaining wall that enclosed and supported the space. For the patio, they laid a soil-stabilization fabric as the base. Next, they added crushed stone and processed gravel that was compacted in lifts. With a sturdy foundation, they laid 750 square feet of Belgard Lafitt pavers, including a Bergerac circle. Natures Elite Landscaping also installed a fire pit that mirrored the design and served as a focal point for guests year-round. To soften the sitting area, which was photographed for Belgard’s 2013 catalog, the landscapers spread mulch and planted green foliage.
