Polaris Industries Inc. has introduced a utility vehicle clearly designed as workhorse for the jobsite but also as a sporting vehicle. The new 2017 “Sportsman” 6×6 Big Boss 570 EPS features four- and six-wheel drive options, room for two passengers and a payload capacity that Polaris claims is the industry’s best.
“Unlike any other ATV, it is designed specifically for customers who demand ultimate traction, massive payload and carrying versatility,” said Polaris’ director of product planning for off-road vehicles. “This vehicle takes on the biggest jobs, anywhere.”
Behind the raised passenger seat is an 800-pound capacity gas-assist dump box with steel Lock & Ride bed rails, dual rear racks with integrated 5-gallon bucket mounts, and six high-mounted tie-down points to secure loads.
The dump box can be configured into two different sections with the integrated box dividers. Stake pockets, meanwhile, add height to the box, enabling the vehicle to carry larger loads.
Polaris notes that its new vehicle also has up-front storage totaling 6.5 gallons and a factory installed rack extender that can carry 90 pounds.
The Big Boss 570 EPS has a towing capacity of 1,500 pounds, along with integrated winch and plow mounts.
The vehicle is powered by Polaris’ liquid-cooled, single-cylinder Pro-Star 570 engine, which delivers 44 horsepower. The fuel capacity of 6.75 gallons is the industry’s largest, the manufacturer says.
Operators can switch from four- to six-wheel drive at the flip of a switch, according to Polaris, which will begin shipping the new vehicle to its dealers in April.
